{The Look} … And a Trench Coat

Here’s the thing about blogs and outfit posts: If you’re not skin-perfect, features-perfect, hair-perfect and style-perfect, it’s hard to get into showing off your style and brag about the latest Ralph Lauren Leather you just bought to yourself. Unless you’re called Aimee Song. The other reason why I always refused to get into outfit posts is that my style is very common (super neutral, voir classic), my features are no particular to say the less (And NO, I don’t lack in confidence neither) and, to be honest, I always found the whole concept very narcissistic. Yet again… Unless you’re called Aimee Song.

But here’s another thing.

Aren’t we all common? Don’t we all have imperfections? In an era where our lifestyle is always evolving – Don’t we all want to upgrade our style as we grow older? Didn’t this whole blogging thing shifted from picture-perfect in magazines to picture-perfect online? (Not criticizing here, just making a point). We were having drinks last week with a friend, a smart-ass intellectual who spends more time reading than Facebooking, and while discussing the blog’s editorial line, he goes: ” Franchement, I don’t know much about blogging but if I come across a true spirit, who doesn’t act nor pretend like all bloggers do, whom I will feel related to and who’ll show me where to find a beautiful leather piece for less, I’ll definitely follow that person.”

So here’s the deal:

Here I am. I don’t pretend to have a spectacular style or  picture-perfect. This new segment is all about sharing ideas, key pieces, trend sporting, but mostly, it’s all about us learning how to compose with our professions and grow up in tandem with our style and stories. And although, we already started testing this last month with Montreal In Manhattan features, we’re now making it official! Welcome to the new key segments of The Montreal Fashion Blog: The Look.

Here I am. I’m kicking the segments with this fall-esque look from last week’s Fashion Preview. The main reason why I wanted to feature it was because of this H&M trench coat, that I lovingly call Passe-Partout or Dress-trench.  I love how fluid, light and neutral it is. I wore it with boyfriends jeans, dresses and skirts, it always looks make me feel fabulous. What I love the most about it? how it flies behind, in the wind, when I walk.
